Introducing Sakuraco’s Japanese Snack Subscription Box

Have you ever tried Japanese Snacks?

In Japan, snacks hold a special place in our hearts—they’re a hidden favorite!
I’ve loved them ever since I was a child, when I’d carefully spend my pocket money choosing just the right treat for the day. I didn’t devour them all at once, but instead savored every bite, letting the flavors unfold slowly.

While snacks may not be known for their nutritional value, they’re packed with irresistible flavors—salty, crunchy, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. They may nourish the mind more than the body, but that’s where their true magic lies.

Like many of you, I work from home, so enjoying sweets and tea during teatime is essential for me to recharge. I simply can’t live without snacks and sweets—I need them to stay productive throughout the day!

Sakuraco captures this magic in a single box, filled with traditional Japanese treats that offer a taste of Japan’s rich snack culture. Along with the snacks, you’ll also receive a leaflet introducing Japanese traditions, plus a beautifully designed hand towel. It’s a delightful experience from the moment you open the lid, and I hope you’ll feel the same excitement I do with every box!

What’s in the box?

This adorable pink box is packed with delicious sweets! Opening it instantly brought back the excitement and joy I felt as a child.

Now, let’s dive in and explore each one!

Traditional Japanese Sweet Snacks

Ginger Senbei

A delicate, wafer-like dough made from light wheat flour is frosted with a ginger-flavored sugar. Its texture is similar to a crispy fortune cookie, perfectly complementing the warmth of the ginger. This sweet treat brings back nostalgic memories of traditional snacks from grandma’s kitchen.

Apple Cream Cookie

Delicate, light wafers sandwich a luscious apple-flavored cream, creating a perfect balance between airy crispness and rich texture. Adorned with a charming bamboo print, this delightful treat symbolizes Tanabata, a beloved Japanese summer festival.

Peanuts Senbei

A satisfying snack made of soft rice crackers filled with crunchy peanuts, offering a texture similar to an energy bar. It requires a good chew, but there’s something irresistibly addictive about it—I often find myself craving it!

Walnut Mochi

Fragrant walnuts are mixed into a sweet yet slightly salty rice cake, offering a delightful blend of chewy and crunchy textures. Wrapped in an oblate to keep it from sticking to your hands—a thoughtful, typically Japanese touch.

Sweet Potato Amanatto (semi-dried sweet potato)

Japanese sweet potatoes are renowned for their delicious flavor, and this snack captures that perfectly! It’s like a mini baked sweet potato—compact, bite-sized, and full of rich, condensed flavor. Packaged in a small tetra pack, it’s perfect for a quick snack during your break. And it pairs wonderfully with coffee!

A perfect blend of tradition and modernity

    Michinoku Miruru

A wonderfully moist treat made with white bean paste, wrapped in a buttery wheat flour dough. The combination of traditional white bean paste and rich butter is both innovative and delicious, creating a perfect pairing with bold green tea.

    Custard bread (kurimu pan)

Cream buns might just be a Japanese invention. Soft, slightly sweet dough envelops a rich custard cream, creating a delightful treat. With Japan’s love for custard-filled desserts like puddings and cream puffs, it’s no surprise that these buns are irresistibly delicious!

    Konjac Jelly: Peach flavor

You simply cut a corner of the small package, squeeze out the jelly, and enjoy. You’ll never forget your surprise the first time you tried it!
Konjac jelly is a relatively new snack, known for its unique chewy texture, which has quickly gained a following—and I’ll admit, I’m one of the fans! —the texture was unlike anything I’d experienced, and the flavor was just like biting into a fresh peach. I can’t wait for you to try this amazing texture too!

    Pear Gummies

I’ll admit it—I’m a bit of a gummy candy critic. Ever since I discovered Gummy Bears, I’ve tried countless varieties, but none have topped these. What makes them stand out is the incredibly fresh flavor, like biting into a real pear. When it comes to Japanese sweets, gummy candy is an absolute must-try.

    Traditional Salty Snacks

    Mini Shrimp Tempura

Japanese people love shrimp, and this snack is a perfect example! Small shrimp are deep-fried whole, giving them an irresistible crispy texture. Plus, you get a good dose of calcium by eating the entire shrimp. Just be warned—once you start, it’s hard to stop!

Iburi Gakko Arare (smoked Takuwan flavor rice cracker)

This snack has a wonderfully complex flavor, combining the fermented flavor of pickled daikon radish with a touch of smokiness. It’s an acquired, more mature taste, but be warned—once you get used to it, it becomes incredibly addictive!

    Roasted Corn Arare (rice cracker)

This snack, made with Hokkaido corn and flavored with savory teriyaki, is sprinkled on crispy rice crackers for a deliciously satisfying taste. Each piece is individually packaged, making it the perfect treat for teatime.

    And, what’s more!

To top it off, the box also included a green tea pack and an adorable cat-themed towel! It was filled with everything I could have hoped for!
